Development Manager (Full-Time, Hybrid)

EVkids empowers underserved Boston youth with the skills and confidence needed to realize their potential. EVkids creates a community of support through 1-on-1, multi-year, academic mentoring relationships, professional family engagement and school advocacy, college success advising, and a summer camp at our 9-acre site in Vermont. POSITION

The Development Manager will work closely with the Director of Giving to raise $1M+ in funding annually through relationships with individuals, foundations, corporations, and government entities. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team member and self-starter with experience in a broad range of communications and development activities, a personal interest in the mission, and a commitment to building authentic relationships inside and outside the organization. Key responsibilities include overseeing EVkids' development communications plan, managing the donor database, administering gift processing and acknowledgment, and providing support for fundraising events. The Development Manager will play an important role in expanding donation opportunities, enhancing engagement with EVkids' diverse constituents, and establishing a robust local presence as a leader in youth education access, equity, and advocacy.

This is a full-time hybrid position based in Boston. Some evening and weekend hours are required for occasional program and fundraising events, donor meetings, and event planning meetings. 

Communications (40%)

  • Translate everyday program activities into mission moments via various media (e-news, newsletter, blog, grants)
  • Curate and share stories from students, alumni, Board members, staff, community partners, and thought leaders in the space of mentorship, education, and youth advocacy
  • Create visual media to complement EVkids’ digital and print content 
  • Develop and implement a communications strategy and calendar using multiple media and targeting multiple audiences
  • Website Management
    • Write and update content
    • Maintain website quality by updating content, broken links, and other needed maintenance.
  • Manage a library of updated collateral materials for grant proposals, site visits, mass media, and general use
  • Track trends and engagement by platform (social media, e-news, website), providing a quarterly report to the Director of Giving

Development & Data Management (35%)

  • Manage fundraising database, including data entry, profile updates, and reporting
  • Assist with tracking grant pipeline data
  • Prepare acknowledgment letters, stewardship letters, and other donor correspondence
  • Develop and track development metrics and reports
  • Support annual fundraising plan, including assisting with annual appeal mailings
  • Work with the Director of Giving to conceive, develop, and implement new donor engagement and solicitation strategies

Event Management (25%)

  • Assist in planning, coordination, and logistics of fundraising events, including the annual Gala, two annual Young Professionals events, bi-annual Advisory Council meetings, and alumni reunions
  • Manage Gala auction items, including solicitation, data entry, and reporting
  • Manage event registrations and sponsorships 
  • Lead event operations (preparing nametags, invitations, emails, webpage updates)
  • Draft and prepare follow-up communications, including acknowledgment letters, thank you emails, social media posts, etc.
  • Work with the event planning committee to generate new ideas and improve events

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years professional experience in communications and/or fundraising
  • Ability to communicate with diverse audiences
  • Detail-oriented and creative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with digital communications and related technology
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Canva, or equivalent
  • Experience with CRM systems (Salesforce, Bloomerang)

COMPENSATION

$55,000 to $59,000, commensurate with experience; additional $2,400 travel, phone, and home office reimbursements annually; 5 weeks paid vacation, increasing with longevity; 20 paid holidays, including 4 floating; group health care and retirement plans with employer match available.
